Do you wish

you could read your attorney's mind?

As a litigation paralegal, does it sometimes feel as if you need to become a mind reader in order to stay ahead of those last-minute requests?

If only they would tell you what's going on in your cases when they actually learn about it rather than right before it's due. We can hear the laughter out loud from here!

Instead of (wasting your time) trying to change that procrastinator, what if you could do something differently?

The Litigation Paralegal Boot Camp will show you how to proactively move your cases forward without having to wait for those last-minute requests.  We don't teach you how to read your attorney's mind.  Instead, we give you the tools to master the discovery phase of your litigation cases.

What are some of the typical litigation paralegal duties when working in a defense firm?

  • Drafting discovery requests and responses
  • Tracking discovery requests and responses
  • Managing all of the information produced by all of the parties throughout the discovery period
  • Preparing for depositions
  • Reviewing client documents for responsiveness and privilege

Most paralegal certificate programs don't have the time to teach you the things that are typically part of a litigation paralegal job description.  They teach theory, terminology, the Rules of Civil Procedure and things like that.  But what about the things that a paralegal does on a daily basis?

The Litigation Paralegal Boot Camp course covers all of that and more.

Be the Indispensable Paralegal

With the skills and tools to proactively manage your litigation cases

Course Detail

1:  Project Management in Litigation (50 minutes)

We kick off this popular paralegal training program with a foundation for all litigation paralegals:  use project management principles to manage your litigation projects.  We give paralegals an overview of the essential elements of project management principles and the project management life cycle as it applies to litigation projects that paralegals are typically involved in.

2:  Blueprint for Proactive Case Management  (50 minutes)

Handling a case proactively involves taking charge and doing things that will move a case forward without having to be told what to do each step of the way. It also involves an understanding that to be truly proactive, a paralegal should develop and refine key behaviors that are needed to be a successful litigation paralegal. We start with a sample complaint and show you things you can be doing on a case from the moment the complaint gets filed.

3:  Drafting Discovery  (60 minutes)

We make drafting discovery requests and responses easy with a technique that will work on all types of litigation cases.  We include how to become the master of discovery drafting on their litigation team, even when a paralegal must draft discovery from scratch without a form or a template. This session also includes how to effectively manage non-party discovery requests.

4:  Ediscovery Basics  (35 minutes)

All litigation paralegals should have a basic understanding of eDiscovery, even if your attorney is still telling you to print it all out on paper.  This module reviews several industry workflow models to better understand how a litigation paralegal can assist with eDiscovery.

5:  Documents and Data Productions  (50 minutes)

In this session, we give you a plan for handling productions, whether they come in as paper or electronic data. You’ll get tips for reviewing, analyzing, and organizing the data and the documents. We also give paralegals a refresher on attorney-client privilege, which is essential during the production to opposing counsel.

6:  Preparing for Depositions  (45 minutes)

Preparing for depositions is more than the notice and the subpoena.  Those are forms that anyone can cut and paste.  Instead, we provide paralegals with a solid plan to eliminate those last-minute scrambles the night before a deposition.  We also provide paralegals with an insight into what happens during a deposition so that they can better organize the attorney heading out the door to the deposition.

7:  Final Tips on Managing the Discovery Phase  (10 minutes)

After mastering the drafting, prepping, and proactive case management, then the paralegal must manage all of the documents and data coming in from all directions. We close out the course with some tips on how to think outside the box and see the bigger picture when it comes to managing the discovery phase of your cases.
